COMMENTS:
Goodwyn solo effort. Definitely moving in different
direction away from April Wine music although the vocals are unmistakable. CAVIAR shows up on the soundtrack of the movie "Johnny Be Good". VEIL OF TEARS is a standout. Goodwyn with short hair is pictured on the album cover. Never thought I'd see that.
Apparently there is two versions of this album. The other has a painting
of a sports car on the cover. It also contains a remixed version of DO YOU
KNOW WHAT I MEAN as a duet with Canadian rocker Lee Aaron. There is also
a song that is a re-recording of SONYA with some altered lyrics.

midi-magic; Andy Newmark-drums; Daniel Barbe-keyboards; Marty Simon-synclavier,
keyboards, music direction.
On the road it's Greenway, Paul Harwood,
Jean St.-Jacques, John McGale and Jerry Mercer.
COMMENTS:
A Brian Greenway solo project.Lots of keyboards and techno
gizmos. IN THE DANGER ZONE and I BELIEVE IN YOU seem to keep my attention most.
The Brian Greenway solo album is out of print. I have
it on LP (ATLANTIC 78 18271) and CD (ATLANTIC 81827-2). It is a good album
that features an Alex Lifeson (RUSH) guitar solo on "In the Danger Zone",
Andy Newmark (Roxy Music) on drums and Aldo Nova on keyboards. The only
real April Wine sounding track is the title track, which one might regard
as the sequel to "Hot on the Wheels of Love".Thought I might include
a WAV sample to whet your appetite.-Darren

A With the exception of a couple of songs the Buzz Band sound is very different than April Wine or (Mercer's previous band Mashmakan). In general it's the kind of music you would expect to hear at a good R&B/Blues bar such as the Yale in Vancouver, or the King Eddy in Calgary. The songs are a mix of ballad/ slow tempo stuff (tracks 2,5,7,10) and up tempo boogie numbers. For the most part Mercer's trademark bombastic style is rather restrained. "Sucker for Love" is probably the best "rock" song and Jerry's drumming is front and center. "Jammin' at the Jook Joint" is similar to the kind of music Colin James has been doing lately and features some cool drumming. From the ballads come what I think are probably the best two songs. "Loner" is April Wine meets Bad Company with a dash of R.E.O. Speedwagon. The last track, "Cool Blue Flame" is my favorite. I think Jerry is using brushes on this very jazzy tune which sounds very much like a good Gary Moore song.
