- 1969/1970 -


October 16, 1969 - March 14, 1970. St. Louis Repertory Theatre(Loretto-Hilton)

Andreas was part of a troupe that performed 5 plays during this season:"Ides of March"(American premiere), "You Can't Take It With You", "Once Upon A Mattress", "Othello", and "Arms and the Man". Included in the troupe were Tony Geary and Imogene Coca.

- 1970 -


February 10 - April 4. Theatre Company of Boston.

4 plays were performed by this troupe: "Landscape", "Silence", "La Turista", and "The Burghers of Calais". He is also credited with performing in the play "Saved" at this theatre. Lance Henrickson was in this troupe at this time.

"The Toyshow" at La Mama, New York City.
Played an exorcist/rabbi. He is also credited with appearing in "The Night Before Thinking" and "The Cenci".

It was here that Andreas made his contacts that led to a 15-year run with Peter Brook.

August
"Orghast" by Ted Hughes, at Persepolis, Iran, as part of the 5th Shiraz International Festival of Arts.

Andreas played the part of Prometheus.

April
Public demonstration of exercises with Centre International de Creations Theatrales (CICT).

Andreas has spoken in interviews about these exercises and improvisations in public in helping him hone his acting.

The journey to Africa.
"Conference of the Birds" was initially worked on.  This was through Algeria, Niger, Nigeria, Dahomey, Mali.

It was here that they did a lot of improvisations with the actors making up characters and scenes on a carpet they would use as a stage.

July 1 - October 12
Journey to America, including El Teatro Campesino in California, Colorado, Minnesota, New York and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
"Conference of the Birds" was performed.

- 1974 -


I can't verify at this time if Andreas took part in Shakespeare's "Timon d'Athenes" in October as part of the Paris Festival d'Automne.

- 1975 -

Andreas as Colin Turnbull with two of the IkJanuary
"Les Iks" at the CICT, Bouffes du Nord, Paris.

Andreas played anthropologist Colin Turnbull. (Based on Turnbull's book, "The Mountain People")

January
"The Ik" performed at the Round House, London for 6 weeks.

May
"The Ik" performed at Caracas Festival of Latin American Theatre, Venezuela, as part of a South American tour.

October - November
"The Ik" performed in 6-week tour of American universities and then into Eastern Europe.

"Ubu aux Bouffes" opens.

"Ubu" tours Europe and Latin America, with over 150 performances worldwide.

October 27
Shakespeare's "Mesure pour Mesure" opens at CICT, Bouffes du Nord. Andreas plays Pompey. 3-month run.

Short European tour of "Mesure pour Mesure".

July 15
"Conference of the Birds" performed as part of the 33rd Festival d'Avignon.

This was also put on with a version of Birago Diop's "L'Os". Andreas's character was Mame Magatte.

March - April
"The Ik", "Ubu", "L'Os", "Conference of the Birds" performed at Adelaide Festival, Australia.

May - June
The same plays performed at La Mama Annexe, where Andreas had once won a part in a play "Toyshow".

October - December
Revival of "L'Os" and "Conference of the Birds" at Bouffes du Nord.

January 17 - February 23
"Zastrozzi". New York Shakespeare Festival Public Theater
43 performances.
Performed without intermission.
Played the character Bernardo.

June 25 - July 23
"Don Juan" New York Shakespeare Festival.
25 performances.
Andreas's character was Don Alonse

August 3 - September 3
"A Midsummer's Night Dream" New York Shakespeare Festival.
29 performances.
Played the character of Snout.

The cast also included William Hurt as Oberon.

- 1983 -

Yale Repertory Theatre, seventeenth season.
January
"Astapovo".
14 performances.
Played the character of Chertkov.

Also in this production were Charles S. Dutton (Sergeyenko) and John Turturro (Railroad Worker).

April
"About Face".
20 performances. A play by Dario Fo.
Andreas played the characters Antonio and Agnelli.

Also starred Patricia Richardson as Lucia.

- 1983/1984 -

November 17, 1983 - April 28, 1984
"la tragedie de Carmen" performed at Vivian Beaumont Theatre, Lincoln Center, Broadway, New York, 1984 season.
There were 187 performances, 29 previews, and the production received a special Tony award in 1984.

The actors rotated parts in this production directed by Peter Brook. They alternated between French and English version. Andreas played Lillas Pastia, Vieille Dame, Garcia, and Zuniga. He was also the only actor to consistently play one character specifically - The Old Woman!

One performance that Andreas was in as Lillas Pastia also starred Ron Perlman.

- 1985 -
