I am a shadow on the wall,
A muffled whisper in the hall.
Is this all I will ever be?
I fight the fog around my soul,
To see things clearly, to be whole.
To know the true meaning of free.
I feel the chill of life's despair
And hunker down deep in my lair,
Afraid to hear the winds above.
I find the strength to pierce my fog
And rise above this murky bog,
Lifted by memories of love.
I feel the warmth, I see the light
And approach it without a fight.
The light now calms all of my fears.
I see the sum of all my parts,
Sense the rhythms of many hearts.
My presence has always been here.
